Represent progressive, diverse neighborhoods of the South End, Fenway, and Dorchester

Mayor Thomas M. Menino last night received endorsements from the Democratic Committees for Wards 4 and 15, representing two of the city’s most diverse and progressive communities.  Ward 4 includes parts of the South End and Fenway/Kenmore, while ward 15 represents the Meeting House Hill and Bowdoin Street areas of Dorchester.  In total, Mayor Menino has received six endorsements from democratic ward committees, and he is the only candidate to receive any such endorsements to date.  The Mayor has received numerous other endorsements from non-profit advocacy organizations, community leaders, and labor unions.

“I’m proud to have the support of these communities as we continue connecting with residents across the city about our vision for moving Boston forward,” Mayor Menino said.  “Our campaign has the most positive, progressive, and inclusive vision for the future of all our neighborhoods.  The people of Boston are the strength of our city, and I’m excited to have so much support as we move into the final weeks of this historic campaign.”

The latest endorsements add to a record of wide-ranging support that Mayor Menino has received during this campaign.  Prior to last night’s endorsements, Democratic Committees for Wards 5 (Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and Bay Village), 13 (Savin Hill region of Dorchester), 16 (Neponset region of Dorchester), and 22 (Brighton) all endorsed the Mayor.  The ward 16 and 22 endorsements were unanimous votes, and this past weekend he was also endorsed by over 20 leaders from Boston’s faith community.
